What subjects do you teach at REM+ Tuition?
REM+ Tuition specialises in the core subject areas—Reading, English, Maths and Science. Scholarship preparation for students in Year 6 and Research Project are also available. Jenny Allen is a Specialist Reading Teacher who teaches children with dyslexia.
Are REM+ Tuition tutors qualified teachers?
All staff are either trained teachers or mature experts in their field of expertise, and they all understand how the curriculum works. University students are not employed as tutors at REM+ Tuition. Every staff member has had the required police checks. Year 11 and 12 teachers are currently teaching the SACE or have had extensive experience in doing so.
Do you assess students?
Yes. Students from Years 2 to 10 enrolling in English and Mathematics programs are usually assessed in their first tutoring session. This is to allow us to identify areas of strength and weaknesses and to plan a comprehensive program of work to address their individual needs. Reading Assessments are formal and are necessary prior to beginning in a reading program other than the pre-school program.
How do I pay?
We accept payment in cash, cheque or internet bank transfer. Credit card facilities are available.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
Make up sessions are available whenever possible.
Do you set homework?
At REM+ Tuition, we prefer to refer to home practice rather than homework. Students are encouraged to do the home practice that is set each week. It should be about half an hour per subject. Year 11 and 12 students can request home practice as well. Exam questions will be given for students to practise.
Do lessons continue during the holidays?
No. Tuition programs are in public term times only. However there are a variety of holiday courses and short courses on offer in the school holidays.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. Students come to REM+ Tuition for a range of reasons, and that affects the length of time they spend with us. However, many students have been with us for a number of years as they are working towards long-term goals. The length of time at REM+ Tuition is entirely up to you and your family.
