Multi-Sensory Tuition

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty that mainly affects reading, writing, and spelling which can cause slower learning progress across all subjects. It varies in severity and presents in difficulties with processing word sounds. Its effects can be evident in both spoken and written language.

Students diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia and other learning difficulties are provided for at REM+ Tuition with teaching that follows the Playberry Method in our Multi-Sensory classes. This is a structured, multi-sensory learning program in which reading, spelling, grammar and writing skills are taught. There is an emphasis on learning in sequence the sounds (phonemes) in words, using a small card system. Continual practice and reinforcement of these and other skills is essential for students successfully to decode words and to read and spell independently.

There is a maximum of two students only in a class, allowing each teacher to provide specific and structure learning support.

A screening checklist is used to assist parents to identify the symptoms of dyslexia. Testing by an Educational Psychologist is recommended. REM+ Tuition does not test for dyslexia but we nevertheless specialise in teaching children with these difficulties.
